Yan-Kei Man

Registered Osteopath

Yan-Kei graduated from the European School of Osteopathy (Maidstone, UK) and obtained a Masters Degree in Osteopathy. Through the general osteopathic clinic, and the maternity and children’s clinic there, she acquired a high level of expertise across various treatment methods. These provided her with osteopathic approaches in treating the musculoskeletal system in people of all ages.

Having practiced in Sydney since 2014, Yan-Kei has returned to London. Throughout the years of practicing in Australia, Yan-Kei continually developed her skill sets by attending post-graduate courses and conferences in both Australia and Europe, including ones hosted by the Osteopathic Centre for Children (London).

Yan-Kei has a keen interest in how the organ and cranial systems affect the musculoskeletal system. She developed special interest in treating patients using ligamentous, fascial, visceral and cranial osteopathic approaches.  Some of her specialist areas in the visceral health of the body include aiding patients navigate through digestive problems such as IBS, migraine and headaches. She is also skilled in treating women’s health complains such as menstrual cramps. These developments have been supported by courses at the Barral Institute (Visceral Osteopathy), Biodynamic Osteopathic studies and Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy, all of which sharpen her skills as an osteopath.

Yan-Kei's experience in working with children since 2007 in Hong Kong and India as a teacher and teaching assistant helped develop her keen interest in children’s developmental health. Yan Kei maintains a major focus on maternal and child health, and has undertaken several advanced courses in these areas.  She particularly enjoys treating babies, children and maternity patients.

Just before Christmas, my back ‘went’. By ‘went’ I mean I could barely walk and had constant pain in my lower back and leg. I was off work and spent most of the time lying on the floor. I was treated by Stephen and Simon, both of whom have a professional but very calm manner – ideal for anyone who’s in a lot of pain. They identified muscle and sciatic nerve damage. They obviously knew what they were doing because the pain gradually started to ease, such that by the beginning of March I was back on the treadmill in the gym. Would I use SW19Osteopaths again? Definitely. Only this time I’d go sooner.

Sam B, SW19

I rate Stephen very highly and would recommend him to anyone.

Lara’s thoughtful, gentle, confident and knowledgeable approach results in the most expert therapeutic massage one could hope to receive. The outcome is therefore a very holistic one in which specific discomforts have been eased with and overall relaxation achieved at the same time.

As a 74 year old, I felt totally secure with Stephen. He always discussed what he planned to do and his treatments have been so helpful. He is really gentle and completely effective with what he does. It's a wonderful practice, and I would recommend Stephen to anyone.

Susan, SW London

Stephen; I feel so much better after the treatment. It is quite a remarkable improvement. I have regained almost 100% movement in my thoracic spine and my lower back is gradually loosening up. I can now feel and use my stomach muscles again. I have gone from spending two very bad nights as I could not get comfortable in any position and experiencing a succession of very painful and exhausting spasms to being able to sleep on my back and my side. My breathing is also deeper. I cannot thank you enough for fitting me in your busy working day, and for doing the treatment on a chair and for giving me the confidence to relax so that healing can take place.

Sabine, SW London

Stephen has been my osteopath for many years and has helped me recover from several serious operations. The atmosphere in the clinic is so calm and relaxing, and Stephen is an absolute professional in everything he does. He truly has healing hands.

I thought the treatment for pain in my knee was excellent. I felt I was being considered as an individual as Stephen listened to everything I said and gave a treatment appropriate to my needs. His approach was non-invasive. I began to notice an improvement in my knee after a couple of days and the pain has not recurred. To me, it felt as if each treatment enabled my body to correct itself and rebalance.

I damaged my knee in a motorcycle accident and have had trouble with it ever since. I work in the building trade and have to keep fit and active. Stephen has managed my knee and other associated problems, and without his skill I would not have been able to continue with my job. He has even enabled me to go skiing, although this was against his better judgment! If you are looking for an experienced osteopath, then you need look no further; his skill is unrivalled.

I was very pleased to have assistance from Holly Jordan when I had a very painful lower back recently. I found her diagnosis very reassuring; and the treatment recommended helpful. It was good that plenty of time - over an hour - was allowed for my first initial appointment, as it was good to feel I wasn't rushed and was listened to. I am back to normal health now but would return again, if I needed to. Many thanks!

Having suffered from a shoulder injury since last September and following unsuccessful physio, I decided to try SW19 Osteopath and Yan-Kei has been amazing. Not only has my mobility greatly improved as has my posture and knee pain, I am no longer in pain. Amazing at how effective this has been for me in such a short period of time, and I now am able to return back to sports. Yan-Kei explains what she is doing and definitely is invested in my well-being and although I am so much better, I will make this as part of my self care and ensure that I visit her every 5 – 6 weeks to re-balance myself. I highly recommend Yan-Kei; I truly feel she has worked wonders for me.
